It's probably a dumb question, but here goes:

I've installed a copy of CS4 on my main computer at work.

However, a lot of my work is also done at weekends or evenings on my laptop, for this I use my laptop. Am I allowed to install the same software on said laptop?

specifically student editions not educational version.

I know that in CS4, commercial use is only valid in the USA.

It looks like the older "education version" is no more in CS5 and is replaced? by "Student & Teacher Edition".

I have read in the FAQ from the USA Adobe website that this is allowed for commercial use:

anyway, i would assume that any purchase of CS4 now would have a free upgrade to CS5, right?

If i purchase CS4 student edition (which here in australia isnt allowed for commercial use) and then get a free upgrade to CS5 (student & teacher edition (i would assume this would be the version CS4 student edition would get for the free upgrade? and assuming that commercial use of CS5 is now allowed in Australia for Student & Teacher Edition) would that mean that I can now use my CS4 student edition that was originally not allowed for commercial use then now be allowed for commercial use when upgraded to CS5 student & teacher edition?

I hope that makes sense and doesnt confuse too much.

I also posted up a thread about my eligibility if im a student that has finished classes and waiting to just graduate now. I was wondering if I may still be considered an eligible student to purchase.

I'm mainly working with CS5 Design Premium Suite (running OS 10.6.3) with users/myself and haven't been able to solve this problem. We utilize Active Directory logins and give the users admin rights ( I know...I know gotta love education). To get right down to it I'll list what I've tried on my machine and on someone else's with the exact problem.

- MADE SURE NO OTHER ADOBE APPS OR AAM IS RUNNING AS A PROCESS (duh)

- deleted any local adobe pref files, cache files and adobe application support files.

- deleted login keychain

- ran disk permissions

- ran Adobe Cleaner and reinstalled the whole suite numerous times...did nothing

- tried using both a different local and AD account, this did infact allow me to run the updates. This proves that either local accounts or AD account      can work...just not mine!!

- I've even moved my user folder data so next time I logged in, it would create a new user folder. This still produced the same error. Does it have to      do with anything in the user directory services and permissions??

One pattern I found was using another account whether if it was a new local account or a fresh AD account logged in, I would get the prompt for the AAM to edit the system.privilege.admin file prior to it searching for availible updates. Logging in has myself I don't get this.... therefore it goes straight to the error message.

I hope there's a fix for this, I've learned far more than I ever wanted to learn about the file structure of the vast CS5 suite and its smaller AAMUpdater counterpart.

I have a brand new iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.  All OS updates applied.

I have installed Creative Suite 5. All updated.

The local admin account can run the softwaer just fine.

We have a mac server 10.6 with workgroup management.

A network admin login* account cannot run Creative Suite 5 no matter what I do.  The network admin account is not configured to have any applications blocked as part of the policies from workgroup manager.  The error I get is that cooltype fails to initialize.  Photoshop and all other Creative Suite 5 products all fail to launch with various other errors.

All Creative Suite 4 applications work just fine.

Any advice would be welcome.  After days of trying to get help from Adobe technical support I was turned down with a standard reply of "I am sorry.  This application must be run as a local admin and not on the network. Is there anything else I can help you with today?"

I'm considering placing a pre-order to upgrade to CS5.5 Design Premium (from CS5) but it looks like Media Encoder might not be included this time. Can someone confirm whether or not it will be included as it was in CS5, and CS4 before that?

I realise I can switch from Design Premium to Web Premium but then I would lose InDesign:(

Hi folks, I am shopping on eBay for computer related items, and I see many people are selling used copies of Adobe Creative Suite CS3 for example. Is it legal, and possible to purchase a used copy if the seller properly "deactivates" the software? Or is this only for his/her use on a second computer? My guess is that the deactivation feature allows the original purchaser only to use the software on a second, new computer . . . and not intended for the original purchaser to SELL the software to a new person . . . I'd love to be able to buy a copy used, but is this possible? Most versions are Educational versions too, in case this makes a difference. Help anyone? These sellers don't seem to have a clue about it other than to say they are "deactivating" the software and it will ask "me" for a serial number off the box. I think registration and installation utilize the internet and keeps track of the name of the original purchaser?

I upgraded from CS4 Web Premium to CS5.5 Production Premium on a new imac quad core with 8GB of RAM. Everything installed except Premiere and Aftereffects. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, a clean install without CS4, nothing worked.

Hi,

I have had 5.5 installed since it came out. I returned from a week away and it instantly promped me for a serial number which i provided. It accepted it but now keeps prompting me for it over and oevr again without letting me in to any of the programs! It is happy with the serial number provided (green tick) but then keeps asking me over and over for it. It's driving me insane! Can anyone help?

I have tried ininstalling it and installing it again by way.

Is it still worth upgrading from CS5.5 Design Premium to CS6 Design & Web Premium, considering that CS6.5 is out next month?

I.e will the price jump between CS5.5 - CS6.5 be the same as going in stages between CS5.5 - CS6 - CS6.5?

I had installed Adobe CS3 in my Mac. Recently, I had given it for repair and I had not backed up a copy of the installers.

Now, when I try to install CS3, I use the serial number I see in my Adobe "My Products", I just get a red cross indicating invalid serial number.

I chatted with a technical representative and also called and talked to another person (on Oct 16). They check my serial number and mention that it is associated with someone else. Then they say that the serial number might be for Volume License and I will need the original media to re-install (strange that Adobe expects people to hold on to DVDs for their entire lifetime - what if it gets misplaced or scratched?). They also said they don't provide support for CS3. Anyway, he said that  a supervisor would provide me a solution with 24-48 hours. Now that the time frame has passed, I called up again the technical support and they give me the same answer - that I should have the original media to re-install.

Sadly, I do not have the media. Please can anyone suggest a work-around? I really cannot afford to pay for another copy of CS.

Hi all, like most of us we have had notifications to upgrade to Mavericks 10.9.5 free of charge.

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8 and using Adobe CS5, my question is will CS5 work on Mavericks 10.9.5 without issues?

I have a license for Production Premium CS5 and have the boxed software. However, I just recently purchased a new computer that does not have a CD/DVD drive on it. In the past I was able to download the "trial" version of Production Premium CS5 and just activate it with my real key. This was better even when I had a CD/DVD drive as the installation went much faster. I have lost the trial installation file. Is there any way for me to get the older version trial installer now? I'd like to get everything installed but it looks like my only solution at this point is to go buy an external USB CD drive just to use this one time.
